Augustus Caesar's life timeline:
- 63 B.C. - Gaius Octavius and Atia (Caesar’s niece), gave birth to Octavian.
- 48 B.C. - Caesar defeats Pompey in the Battle of Pharsalus. Pompey escapes to Egypt and is killed there. Octavian assumes the toga virilis officially on October 18.
- 45 - 44 B.C. - Octavian goes along with Caesar for the Battle of Munda in Spain. Caesar is murdered on March 15 and according to his will, Octavian is his adopted heir.
- 43 B.C. - Young Augustus’ adoption is officially recognized on August 19 and he is known as Gaius Julius Caesar Octavianus. On January 1, Caesar is sanctified. As a result, Octavian turns out to be the son of a god. On October 23, Antony and Octavian take revenge of Caesar’s murder in the Battle of Philippi.
- 39 - 38 B.C. - Octavian is wedded to Scribonia, and they become parents of a daughter Julia. Scribonia is divorced and Livia becomes his wife.
- 37 - 36 B.C. - Antony is married to Cleopatra. Sextus Pompey is defeated by Octavian at Naulochus, in Sicily. The hold of Triumvirate is taken from Lepidus and Antony and Octavian take the power in their hands.
- 34 B.C. - Octavian’s sister is divorced by Antony.
- 32 - 31 B.C. - Octavian becomes commanding chief when Rome attacks Egypt. He conquers Antony at Actium with the assistance of Agrippa.
- 30 B.C. – Antony and Cleopatra end their lives.
- 29 - 27 B.C. - Octavian rejoices his victory in Rome. January 16 – Octavian is awarded the title of Augustus. He gets the powers of proconsul in Spain, Gaul, Syria and Egypt.
- 25 - 23 B.C. - Julia, Augustus’ daughter, is married to Octavia’s son Marcellus. Augustus accepts imperium maius and tribunicia. This empowers him to have control over magistrates and the veto. Marcellus dies and he forces Agrippa to divorce his wife to tie the knot with Julia. Julia and Agrippa are married and become parents of five children: Gaius, Lucius, Postumus, Agrippina and Julia.
- 22 – 19 B.C. - Augustus takes a trip to the East. He is instigated in to the Mysteries of Eleusis and improves Roman standards controlled by the Parthians.
- 17 B.C. - Gaius and Lucius are adopted by Augustus. He makes marriage laws. On June 3, he commemorates the Ludi Saeculares.
- 13 – 12 B.C. - Agrippa works as an official co-emperor. He goes to Pannonia and dies after falling sick. Then Augustus asks his stepson to break up with his wife and marry his daughter Julia. On March 6, Augustus is awarded Pontifex Maximus.
- 5- 2 B.C. - January 1- Gaius is declared Augustus’ successor. Augustus is conferred with pater patriae, father of his nation. Julia is implicated in scandals and Augustus banishes her.
- 4 A.D. - 9 A.D. - Augustus accepts Tiberius his inheritor and Tiberius accepts Germanicus. Teutoburger Wald disaster happens.
- 13 A. D. - 14 A.D. - on April 3, Tiberius becomes co-ruler. Augustus dies in 14 A.D

How Did Augustus Die ?
Augustus Caesar fell gravely ill in the year 23 B,C. He wanted to appoint a successor to his distinctive place in Rome and its government, an heir capable of dealing with all political matters and the public. Augustan historians have different arguments regarding the issue of his heir. According to some historians, he wanted to appoint his sister’s son Marcellus, who was hurriedly married to Augustus’ daughter, Julia, the Elder, while other historians disagree this because of Augustus’ will showed that he had a soft corner for Marcus Agrippa. He was Augustus’ second in command and perhaps the only one of his fellow men to lead the masses and hold the Roman Empire united. More..
