History of Pizza Hut
|
Pizza Hut was started in the year 1958 by two brothers named Frank Carney and Dan Carney. They opened the first Pizza Hut in Wichita, Kansas. With customer service and quality being the combined focus of their endeavor, Pizza Hut soon became a super successful business venture.

The Carneys knew that they wanted to start a restaurant that had the word 'pizza' in its name, and as the first store looked like a kind of a hut, they decided to name the store Pizza Hut. The year 1964 saw the Carney brother bring about a sea change in the way the restaurant looked. They had buildings constructed on a universal Pizza Hut theme.
Greater things were in store in 1970, and Pizza Hut was listed on the NYSE. Japan, England and Canada saw the first Pizza Hut restaurants in 1973. PepsiCo and Pizza Hit merged in 1977, and in 1980, Frank Carney decided to leave Pizza Hut in order to fulfill other personal aspirations.
With the introduction of the 'pan pizza', Pizza Hut’s business soared sky high, and by 1986, the UK alone had as many as one hundred outlets. By 1994, there were more than 10,000 Pizza Hut outlets all over the world wide. Another new invention named ‘The Edge’ was introduced in 2000. This was a thin pizza that came with toppings all around its edge.
By 2003, Pizza Hut had 500 outlets in the UK, with manpower totaling to more than 20,000 employees. Today, you can find a Pizza Hut all over the US and in seventeen countries around the world.
