History of Exercise Science

During the BC, 129-210 A.D and early 16th century: Observations on the importance of Exercise science were made by famous personalities like Hippocrates, Galen, Aulus Cornelius Celsus, etc.
Early 20th century: Laws and theories were developed. Various papers were developed to emphasize Exercise Science. Some of the topics of interest were result of exercising at altitude, exercising in heat, effect of exercise on the heart rate and how seniors cope with doing exercises.
20th century: Studies were made on muscles and fibers that are used during exercises. Also, experiments on exercise were conducted in Europe on Bohr's effect on hemoglobin, the way the body uses fat as a source of energy when people exercise, capillary physiology and how the body produces heat during an exercise session.
Second half of the 20th century: Various organizations and councils were formed to create awareness and spread the value of fitness. The importance of maintaining health by exercise was proved by developing contents and books on aerobics, jogging, etc.
1970: Cellular biology and molecular biology were implemented as part of exercise science; and women were included in scientific studies.
Exercise science developed in a full-fledged manner through various organizations, and fitness councils, and in the recent years, fitness testing and physical activities are have sought after as a way of improving health and moving people towards a healthy living.
