Automobiles are used by half of present-day world population, and they are the main asset that all of us rely on as a medium of transportation. So, it is really worth that we provide gratitude to those who invented automobiles, who helped us to move our lives faster! Also, apart from owning an automobile, it would be worth to know the history of automobiles.

History of Automobile Industry:
1769: A 3-wheeled military tractor running on steam engine was invented by a French engineer named Nocolas J. Cugnot. This was, however, a low performance automobile that could not run for more that fifteen minutes.
1806: This was the time when cars having internal combustion engines were invented. These cars used fuel gas.
1832 - 1839: Scotsman Robert Anderson was responsible for inventing the first electric carriage.
1842: Thomas Davenport of the US and Robert Davidson, a Scot, were responsible for inventing automobiles that made use of non-rechargeable electric batteries.
1914: Henry Ford created a revolution in the automobile industry. He was the pioneer towards bulk production of cars. He began producing batches of cars in his own car factory, and employed successful methods that marked a stand in the automobile era. America was noted as the first in the automobile industry.
1940: Gradually, apart from America, Japan and couple of European countries started to pitch into the automobile industry. Gradually Germany also made its entry.
The automobile industry has traversed through different periods depending on which method was used to drive an automobile. Gradually, improvisations were made to the propulsion technique, size, design, and build, also considering the usability trends.
The successful automobile industrial eras are categorized as veteran era, vintage era, pre-World War II era, post-war era and modern era.
