History of the Computer         History of the computer began with Charles Babbage with his analytical engine. This machine could make mathematical calculations and also print out math tables. However, the very first computer was invented in 1936. It was developed by Konrad Zuse, and was called the Z1 Computer. It could be programmed to perform a set of tasks.

History of the Berlin Wall        The Berlin Wall was a barrier that was brought up between the former East Germany and the former West Germany. In fact, many historians hold the Wall responsible for the onset of the Cold War. In 1952, leaders from East Germany had a meeting in Moscow with Joseph Stalin. The outcome of the meeting was a decision that there should a barrier between the two parts of Germany to stop free travel of people. History of the Bill of Rights         The Bill of Rights derives its origin from the first ten amendments that were known to the Constitution of the US. They were given to the First Congress in the US by James Madison in the year 1789. These amendments were effectively made use of from December 15, 1791 when the Constitution became conscious of the fact that changes were needed in the Constitution as the country started becoming bigger.

History of McDonalds        McDonalds, the world famous fast food chain, saw its beginning in 1940. The owners were two brothers - Richard McDonald and Maurice McDonald -- and their very first restaurant was opened in San Bernardino, California.

        They had a very successful drive-in restaurant, which they closed to start their own restaurant. McDonalds stood out from other restaurants because of its Speedee Service System. History of the Christmas Tree        The Christmas tree is a coniferous tree used in celebration of Christmas. It can be a real tree or an artificial one. The tree is decorated with lights, garlands, baubles, and tinsel. At the top of the tree is a star or an angel.

        Using a Christmas tree as part of winter celebrations can be traced back to the time of the pagans. They used the tress as part of their celebrations of the Winter Solstice -- 21st December, when the Sun ascended for the first time in the winter sky. The tree stood for replenishment in the winter cold. As a symbol of this, the tree was decorated with candles, apples and other fruits. The people would then chop down the Yule log at the beginning of the New Year as remembrance of the past year.More...
