Timeline of Events in US History

Most of us believe that it was Columbus who discovered America, but the truth is that America was discovered long before Columbus landed there. Asians had set foot in the lands of America, and became the inhabitants even before Columbus got there. Since there is no proper documentation on the exploration of America, people tend to assume that it was Christopher Columbus who should get the credit for discovering the Americas.

Like every great country, the US has its fair share of history of events that happened right from its exploration. The Great Compromise in the year 1787, alternatively known as Connecticut Compromise, was a settlement of disputes that came from different views of the New Jersey and Virginia Plan. The thirteen colonies who rebelled against taxes and the life of the slaves 1848 give a colorful past to the history of America.
In the 1920s, the sale, manufacture and transport of liquor was considered illegal, and it also had a name to the prohibition called the “Noble Experiment” which had an amendment in the 18 section to issue a ban on liquor from the year 1919 to 1933. The amendment was passed to eradicate the crime rate that had sprung up. Unfortunately, it worked the other way when new gangs emerged as a result of the prohibition.
Crashing of the stock markets in the year 1929 led America into the Great Depression, where people wanted jobs and the government needed money. The Constitution of America had to reverse the prohibition on liquor and also legalize it to save itself. This was the one and only amendment in the history of the US that was reversed.
