The day when Allies began war against Germany in the year 1944 at Normandy is commonly referred as D Day. In the Second World War, Germany marched against Poland and seized it which caused France, Great Britain and Canada to march against Germany but the Allies lost their battle with Germany and the France was captured by Germans. The word D Day was first used at the time of First World War to denote the day of operation as a code word among the military. It became popular only after the battle of Normandy. The chief officials of the army and the military forces would devise how to execute the attack based on the D Day. Casualty Figures For D Day June
D Day was on 6th June 1944 when a combat was initiated by the Allied troops in Normandy against the German troops. The operation was called Operation Overlord, and attacks included both airborne landings and amphibious operation.
Causality reported from the arena of war refers to losses that the fighting force suffers due to death, injury, getting arrested as war prisoner or missing in action. As regards the D-Day, no record could be maintained at that time. Hence, we have no official record of the number of causalities of that operation.
