History Of The Middle East

The earliest civilization known to man was found to be somewhere in the Middle East and was dated to 3500 B.C. It was called the Mesopotamian civilization of the Middle East. Historians also refer to it as the cradle of civilization. There were several early civilizations like the Sumerians, Akkadians, Assyrians and Babylonians. They all flourished in this region.

The Nile River is where most of the settlements were found because of its fertile soils which were ideal for cultivation. In the ancient times an entire civilization depended on rivers for their progress. One of the first people to start cultivation was the ancient Egyptians along the valley of Nile. The Pharaohs ruled the kingdom and it was somewhere in the 4th millennium B.C. the history of Middle East starts from these civilizations. At that time people had a different culture and followed a different god and idealisms.

After the Pharaohs, the Persians ruled the Middle East in the sixth century BC. It was followed by the Macedonians empire which was founded by Alexander the Great. He lived here for several years and fought many more wars conquering more countries. Then the Phoenicians and the Israelites followed. This is when the seventh century Islam started ruling, and Christianity started flourishing as a religion in the Middle East.

In the seventh century, Islam was founded and started ruling the Middle East as a religion. Even the Roman Empire ruled here for a brief period of time until the Arabs took over the region completely. Today, the Middle East is mainly dominated by Islam, and it is the only religion followed here.
