History On South America
South America is a huge continent that spans a history of some thousands of years. It spans several civilizations and development of humans itself. The cultural history has been passed down from generations to generations in the southern hemisphere of the earth. |
However, the earliest to have been documented was ever since the continent was subject to colonization. Some of the first people to arrive on the shores of South America were the Spanish and the Portuguese in the 15th century. This was the time of exploration when people from various countries were discovering other masses of land. At that time they discovered several indigenous tribes in South America like the Mestizo who were very distinct from the rest of the world.
Due to the Transatlantic slave trade South America also became home to millions of slaves from Africa. The mixed races that were being brought in from Africa had their own culture and traditions and a very diverse society was being formed in South America. Even though most of them were from Africa, they followed different cultures and rituals. However, soon enough tensions between the indigenous people and the slaves who have escaped started in the continent. This spanned for three centuries, starting from the 16the century and lasting until the 19th century.
After the revolution to gain independence from the Spanish crown started in the 19th century, South America went through another period of transformation. Later on when American explorers started studying the history of South America, they found that the indigenous tribes would have come to the continent by crossing the Bering Strait.
