Brief History Of Italy
There is more to Italy than just pastas and pizzas. Italy managed to enjoy its identity late in 1861 as a number of rulers ruled this city during the early ages. The first of all were Etruscans who preferred to rule over the peninsula region in the eight century. They managed to continue their power until the Roman Empire took control. |
The Greeks began with colonization along the famous southern part. The very first Republic was introduced in the year 509 BC .They were accompanied with a very powerful military as well as governing monarchs. The empire kept expanding its roots all over Europe and finally turned out to be so vast that it has to divide itself into two main sectors such as western and eastern. Like any other greedy governing party, this empire could not take it too long and terrible conditions were unmanageable. Due to foreign incursions followed by plague and famine further gave a hard time to them. The Lombards, Normans and Muslims then invaded Italy in the twelfth century.
The next best part was the Renaissance period which led to building of towns, schools and a whole new atmosphere full of architects, poets, painters, sculptors, historians, philosophers. All this took place in the fifteenth century mainly because of rise and growth of the merchant class who believed in innovation and technological development. These professionals or specialists created some great masterpieces in their respective fields. Italy was unified in the year 1861 due to which industrialization emerged as the ruling sector in the nineteenth century. Italy did take part in World War I and paid a huge price for it.
Next after its defeat its economic and political system went for an overall toss. It finally gave Benito Mussolini to enjoy power and control over Italy and managed to spread the fascist rule in the year 1922. His rule lasted for a good 21 years when Italy has managed to be governed and followed a totalitarian policy .Further it joined hands with Nazi Germany. Italy was again defeated miserably in the Second World War, but got liberated in 1945. It became republic on June 2, 1946.
