History Of Australia

The first people to have lived in Australia were the aboriginal people. They were the early settlers and could have come to this land nearly fifty thousand years ago. A lot of indigenous history in the form of languages, traditions, and culture was passed down to these people. Most of this was well preserved until the arrival of the Europeans in the Australian continent.

The Europeans came to Australia in the 16th century, and only after that a written form of history was documented about this continent. Human remains were found in the areas of Lake Mungo in New South Wales and these remains could have been forty thousand years old. When the Europeans first came in and documented about the region there were nearly 350000 aborigines in the country according to them.

The aborigines could have first arrived in Australia through sea at that time the sea levels were low. New Guinea and Tasmania could have been joined at that time. In the late 17th century, there were 250 aboriginal nations in Australia and they all had some kind of alliance with each other. Each of them spoke their own language, and they had different cultures and traditions. Out of these 250 languages and traditions nearly 200 of them are extinct. Several people argue that the standards of living for most Aborigines were very high and they lived an extravagant life. They had rich resources and they used them all for their luxury and comfort. Also, all the groups had rich traditional customs and they coexisted peacefully.

History-Of-Mining-In-Australia      The aborigines who arrived in Australia nearly forty thousand years ago started mining activity in the continent. However, it was not for gold or oil, but they did for suitable material for weapons. They used the ochre for decorative purposes. These mines were not very deep and usually a small scale mine was dug. The actual mining started in 1788 when the European settlers arrived. They started mining for the sandstone to build the Sydney Cove. More..
