Archeologists have evidences that Tanzania had inhabitants from ancient times. They have got evidences from the fossils of human beings in Olduvai Gorge of north Tanzania, which is called the cradle of mankind. They found paranthropus bones in these fossils which are said to be more than two million years old. Also, they found the Laetoli footprints which are known to be the footprints of the human ancestors which date back to 3.6 million years.

Before 10000 years Tanzania was home for the hunters and they combined with the people who spoke Cushitic and they were from north. The Cushitic people brought in the practices of agriculture, production of food and farming the cattle.

Some 2000 years ago people who spoke Bantu got into Tanzania from the West Africa in groups of migrations. They introduced the iron working skills and brought in the ideas about political and social organizing. They were the ones to absorb the Cushitic people and the Khosian people. History Of Labour Law In Tanzania

Every four people in five in the Tanzanian labor force work in agriculture. Less than one-tenth of these workers belong to any union. Every area has a different labor laws in the mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar, and the workers belonging to the Zanzibar and should not join the unions in the mainland. The workers have the permission to form labor unions. There is just one labor federation in Tanzania, and it is the Trade Union Congress.

The very first trade union of the Tanzania was the Motor Drivers Union which was formed in the year 1927. In the year 1937, the Asian workers formed the Asiatic Labor Union which led to the formation of many unions in Tanzania. These organizations did not have any involvement in the industrial conflicts. In the year 1954, Oscar Kambona and Julius Nyerere changed the Tanganyika African association which was formed in the year 1929 into Tanganyika African national union. TANU was the winner in the general elections of the term 1958 to 1960, and as Tanganyika got independence on 9 December 1961, Nyerere was elected as the prime minister.

In 1962 December, Tanganyika was declared republic and became the part of the Commonwealth of Nations. And, Nyerere became the president. On 26 April 1964 few period after the revolution by the left in Zanzibar, Zanzibar and Tanganyika were combined and Nyerere was elected as the president of this newly formed country.
