A disease is an abnormal condition of an organism that impairs bodily functions and can be deadly. It includes injuries, disability, syndromes, infection and disorders. Famous people who suffer from diseases draw great public attention and also inspire other to excel in life despite of their deformity, few famous people with some disease who made their mark in the history include:

Ronald Reagan: Ronald Reagan, the 40th President of the United States of America, was sufferer of degenerative neurological disease Alzheimer’s. He drastically increased public awareness for this disease through his personal mission of education and campaigning. He also founded The Ronald and Nancy Reagan Research Institute, in co-ordination with Alzheimer’s association to explore the possible causes and courses of treatment especially focusing on early detection.

Magic Johnson: Magic Johnson, a legendary basketball player, has himself proclaimed that he had AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome). During a physical test before the 1991-92 NBA season, it was discovered that Johnson had tested positive for HIV. He also announced later that he and his wife were going to dedicate their life to “battle this deadly disease”.

Wasim Akram: Wasim Akram, one of the greatest fast bowlers in cricket history, was diagnosed with diabetes (It is a condition caused by insufficient production of insulin hormone that converts glucose into fats) in 1997. Even after diagnoses with diabetes he continues to play the game as a great bowler. His performance was not affected due to this disease because of diabetes management. Even after retirement he told that he manages diabetes through exercise and he his still fit. WHO has appointed him as the Diabetes Ambassador. He is also the Accu-chek brand ambassador, company associated with innovation in diabetes care worldwide.

John F Kennedy: John Fitzgerald “Jack” Kennedy often referred by his initials JFK and the thirty-fifth president of the United States was asthmatic (Asthma is a chronic respiratory condition that occasionally constricts the airways). Although he suffered from asthma, Kennedy always appeared strong and rugged in public and enjoyed working out and playing sports with his family.
