Famous People With Cystic Fibrosis

Cystic fibrosis is a hereditary disease affecting the exocrine (mucus) glands of the lungs, liver, pancreas and intestines it also affects the respiratory system, digestive system, male fertility and mucus producing glands of the body. Cystic fibrosis is also known to affect the ability of the body to transfer salts in and out of cells.

Statistical data shows that people suffering from cystic fibrosis have an average life expectancy of forty years. Cystic fibrosis affects over 30,000 children and adults in America. Many people are carriers of this disease but may not know it. So it is no surprise that there are some celebrities and famous people who have lived with cystic fibrosis.

Famous People with Cystic Fibrosis:

Albert Einstein: Albert Einstein, one of the greatest scientists of the past better known for his theory of relativity and specifically mass-energy equivalence expressed by the equation E=mc2, died of internal bleeding caused by the rupture of an aortic aneurysm in Princeton’s hospital, New Jersey, on April 18, 1955 at the age of 76, and is thought to have suffered from cystic fibrosis.

Andrew Simmons: Andrew Simmons, a British professional wrestler who is best known for competing under the persona of Andy Boy Simmonz, was in past diagnosed with cystic fibrosis.

Bill Williams: William Thomas “Bill” Williams, the former English professional soccer player and manager, was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis. Williams played for Portsmouth, Queens Park Rangers, Mansfield Town and Gillingham, making over 250 football league appearances in total.

Fraser Brown: Fraser Brown, four month old son of Gordon Brown, the United Kingdom’s prime minister, has been diagnosed with cystic fibrosis soon after his birth following a series of blood tests.
