Wyoming means the “land of vast plains”. It was admitted as the 44th state on July 10, 1890 to the American Union. Its notable national parks including Yellowstone and Grand Teton attract millions of people worldwide. Patricia Maclachlan: Author of Children’s books and Newberry Medal winner, Patricia Maclachlan was born in 1938 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. She also had many illustrated books in her name including Once I Ate a Pie, What You Know First, Who Loves Me?, All the Places to Love and Bittle and Painting the Wind. Currently she lives with her husband in Williamsburg, Massachusetts.   

Dick Cheney: Grew up in Casper, Wyoming, Cheney was the White House Chief of Staff to President Ford. He was also the US congressman and the secretary of Defense and vice president.

Joseph M. Carey: Ne was the first US senator from Wyoming and the Mayor of Cheyenne. He was born in 1845 in Milton, Delaware.

William “Buffalo Bill” Cody: You might have T-shirt sporting his name. Yes, He was the founder of the Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show in Nebraska and the founder of Cody in Wyoming.

Esther Hobart Morris: Born in 1814, Esther Morris was the nation’s first female Judge. She helped women receive the right to vote in Wyoming.
