Famous People Biography

People come and go but famous people are few and their achievements or failures stay with us. History shows that there have been many famous people in all fields of work and life and these people have influenced our lives in some way for better or for worse. Although brief, here are some famous people biographies who have influenced the word with their deeds.

Famous People Biography:

Fidel Castro: A fierce nationalist and an outspoken critic of the influence that US had over Cuba, Fidel Castro has been the leader of Cuba since 1959. He became a leader after overthrowing the Batista regime. He transformed Cuba into a communist state.

During his school years, Castro attended catholic schools and studied law at the Havana University. He was also actively involved in politics and used violence and student activism. He joined the Che Guevara forces and together they overthrew the government and took the leadership of country. He always had tense relations with the United States, especially after the Bay of Pigs invasion in 1961 and the Cuban missile crisis in 1962. He has been into controversy as some view him as a dictator while others praise him as a true leader.

Neil Armstrong: American astronaut Neil Armstrong was the commander of Apollo 11, the first U.S. attempt to land on the moon. He was born on August 5, 1930 in Wapakoneta, Ohio. He received his pilot’s license when he was 16 years old. He studied in the Purdue University for two years and joined the navy. He flew combat missions in Korea. In 1955, Armstrong obtained his aeronautical engineering degree in 1955. Armstrong   was later assigned as commander of Apollo 11. He along with lunar module pilot Edwin Aldrin landed on the Moon at the Sea of Tranquility on July 20, 1969.  

Saddam Hussein: Ex-leader of the Baath party, Hussein was born to a poor farming family in Tikrat. He studied law in Cairo and returned to Baghdad in 1963 and was selected for the post of assistant leader of the Baath party in 1963. In 1968, the Baath party seized the power in a coup. Hussein played a key role in the Middle East and negotiated a settlement with Iran that contained Iraqi concessions on border demarcation. He was the perpetrator of the Iran-Iraq war that left Iraq devastated with hundreds of thousands of casualties and was in debt of about $75 billion.
