Raven Symone Biography

Rayen Symone better known as star of Disney channel’s “That’s so Raven” was born in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1985 to her parents, Christopher Pearman and Lydia Gaulden. Rayen Symone at the young age moved to New York. Raven is of both African- American and Native American descent. Symone literally grew up in front of cameras.

She made her debut in entertainment industry when she was just three years old as a child artist playing Bill Cosby’s granddaughter on the Cosby Show (1989-1992). At the age of five she signed a contract with MCA records, ever since her career has been unstoppable. Since then she has worked in television and feature films, including the TV series Hangin with Mr. Cooper (1993-97) and Eddie Murphy's Dr. Doolittle movies (1998 and 2001). Her sitcom on Disney made her a favorite of pre-teen girls. It also boosted sales of Raven merchandise and supported her music career. Raven also headlined in the blockbuster Disney channel original movie “The Cheetah girl” and will film its sequel next year.

The multifaceted teen is also a recording artist, her debut album was released when she was 8 years old and included the single” That’s what little girls are made of,” written by Missy Elliot. Raven was awarded Young Artist Award under nine years old category for her exceptional performance for the Cosby Show, in 1991; she also received prestigious NAACP Image Award for her outstanding performance in a youth/children’s program, for That’s so Raven. She also won Nickelodeon Kids Choice Award for Favorite in 2004 and 2005.

Besides an actress and singer, Rayen Symone is also a humanitarian who addresses issues concerning children and works for children’s safety. Raven currently has her own production company, “That So Production”, which co-produced the entire fourth and final season of that’s So Raven. In the late’ 90s she co-owned RayBlaize records with her father. However, they sold the company in the early 2000.
