Paul Stanley Personal Biography

Stanley Harvey Eisen, known by his stage name Paul Stanley, is an American vocalist and hard rock guitarist for the rock band Kiss. His band’s highest charting hits including Detroit Rock City, Rock and Roll All Nite, Crazy Crazy Nights and Forever. Paul Stanley was born on January 20, 1952 in Queens, New York and he began his singing career in a local band called Rainbow and Uncle Joe. He was born with microtia, which is a congenital deformity of the outer ear.

In the early 1970s, Stanley joined Wicked Lester and recorded an album in 1971, but, unfortunately, it was never released officially. Later Stanley and Simon, along with Peter Criss and Ace Frehley formed a band named Kiss and released their self-titled debut album in February 1974.

Paul had an attractive persona which combined elements of extreme masculinity along with effeminate charm. He used it to his advantage for his band, Kiss. Stanley used a specific “stage voice” in most of his shows, although his original voice is generally very soft. During most of his rock shows, he got the crowd to join the band and sometimes, gave a “scripted” story for certain songs.

When Stanley was in Toronto, he was contacted by AboutFace, an organization that provides support and information about facial differences in individuals and asked him to raise awareness for them.

Stanley desperately needed a hip replacement surgery but decided to put it off since he was touring with Kiss. However, he finally had the surgery in October 2005. There was a second surgery in December 2005 due to complications from the first one.

In 2001, Stanley’s wife, Pamela Bowen, filed for divorce and Stanley married long-time girlfriend Erin Sutton on November 19, 2005 at Huntington in Pasadena, California. Their first child was born on September 6, 2006.
