Who Was Athena ? Married To ?  

Athena is the name of a Greek goddess who birth was very different. Zeus the king of gods married a mortal woman Metis and she soon became a pregnant. But Zeus was warned by other gods that if she will have a boy child and when he grows up he will kill his father. Fearing that it may happen, Zeus tricked Metis and made her into a fly. Then he swallowed her. After swallowing her, Zeus had severe headache and told Hephaestus to axe his head open. And, when it was done so, Athena came out of his head.

She was the patron goddess of Athens, goddess of arts and crafts, and the goddess of wisdom. Although she caused headache to Zeus, she was his favorite daughter. She excelled in the strategy part of the war being the goddess of war than violence and she actively participated in the Trojan War. She gifted Athens with olive tree which provided them with food, oil and wood.

As Athena was born from her father and did not have any mother she thought that mother was not as essential as a father in case of creation. She supported Orestes who murdered his own mother named Clytemnestra because she murdered his father and he own husband Agamemnon.

Athena was the goddess who was virgin and had a son. She was half mother of Erichthonius. She became the mother when Hephaestus tried to rape, and his seed fell on to the earth after Athena brushed it off from her leg. Earth was known Gaia, the Earth Mother. So, Erichthonius was born to Hephaestus, Athena and Gaia. He was part man and part snake, with 2 mothers and a father.

Who-Was-Athena      Athena is known to be the Goddess of war, wisdom, arts, justice, skill and industry. She is the favorite daughter of Zeus, the king of gods. Her birth did not happen as it happened in case of the other goddesses. Zeus and Metis got married and soon Metis was pregnant. But Zeus was told by some gods that if she delivers a boy child, he would grow up and kill the king of gods, Zeus. More..
