Athena Goddess Of War
Athena is a goddess in Greek mythology. She was called the goddess of war and the goddess of wisdom by the Greeks. She was called the goddess of weaving and metal working. Although she was called the goddess of war, she was not an expert in violence. Violence is the field of Ares, who is known as the god of war. Athena is related to the disciplined part of the war like the strategy. |
Athena is the offspring of the Zeus and Metis. It was predicted that if Metis is going to have a son from Zeus, the son will be most powerful when compared to his dad. It was believed that if he had a son with Metis he will be overthrown by the son. He was frightened by this prediction Zeus made Metis into fly after making love with her. And when she turned into fly she was swallowed by Zeus. But Metis was a pregnant and she started making amour and helmet for her child in the fetus. This frightened Zeus more and he ordered Hermes to cut the head and he done as said but Athena came out with armor and helmet.
Athena is said to have shining grey eyes and she was always seen with an owl. Owl symbolizes wisdom and it can see in dark. She is also seen with the goddess of victory. Athena is also seen wearing helmet and armor.
Athena is also known to be a virgin. There are no such situations that say she had lovers. She is known as the Athena Parthenos. Parthenos is known as virgin. The Partheneon is a temple which was built in honor of the Athena.
