Who Was Aphrodite Married To ?

Aphrodite, the goddess of love, was married to the god of the fire of the forge or god of craftsman named Hephaestus. He was not handsome and was crippled physically, but he had excellent metal smithing skills, and he made beautiful jewelry in Olympus. This relationship was the result of desire. Her physical pleasures and sensual nature was desired by Hephaestus and golden jewels were desired by Hephaestus.

Aphrodite was unhappy with her marriage and loved Ares, the god of war. Aphrodite and Ares depict the yin and the yang of the universe. Polarization is the cause for the longing passionate and strong love. The relationship between the Aphrodite and Ares depicts the Greeks belief in men fighting for women and the source of war is their rivalry. This is shown in the Homer’s Lliad. They strongly believed in this which can be seen that great historian like Herotodus also believed that Trojan war was the result of conflict over a woman. As the relationship between the goddess of love and goddess of war was destructive, so is the relationship of a man and a woman or masculine and feminine.

The relationship of Ares and Aphrodite was the cause of tension among the gods. It is believed that once when the goddess of love and goddess of war were laying on the bed Helios the sun saw the m and told the same to Hephaestus, Aphrodite’s husband who trapped them in a bronze net while they were naked and showed them to all.

Why-Was-Aphrodite-The-Greek-Goddess-Of-Love      As per the Greek mythology, the goddess of love, sexual rapture and beauty is Aphrodite. As told by Hesoid, Aphrodite was born when Cronus castrated the father of gods named Uranus. Cronus cut off his genitals and threw them into the sea which became the form of foam, and washed away onto the shore of Cyprus or Cythera in a shell with Aphrodite. This is the reason why she is often called Kypris and Cyntherea. Homer believes that she is the daughter of Dione and Zeus. More..
