Aphrodite was called the goddess of love. She was called Venus by the Romans. Aphrodite was inhabitant of Mount Olympus along with some other deities and she had wedlock with Hephaestus. It is believed that her birth happened from the sea foam.

Aphrodite is said to have some notable occasions with mortal heroes' affairs. It is said that Jason request was rejected when he asked the King of Colchins to take away the Golden Fleece which was hanged in the groove. Then goddess Hera, the sponsor of the Jason’s quest, requested the intervention of Aphrodite. The goddess of love was responsible for Medea falling in love with Jason.

It is also believed that Aphrodite was the cause for the Trojan War. Hero Peleus got married to Thetis, and the invitations went out to all gods except one. The goddess who was not invited ended up playing a golden apple on banquet table. Finally they took a decision to make the dispute to a settlement. The judge who was placed for the designation was a handsome mortal. His name was Paris, a Trojan youth.

The 3 goddesses offered bribe to Paris. The queen of Olympus called Hera bribed him by telling that she can help him in ruling the world. The goddess of war called Olympus told that she will help him to win the battle. Aphrodite offered him to obtain love of a most beautiful woman on earth, Helen, who was the wife of king of Sparta.

Aphrodite was the one to get the golden apple and, in turn, she helped him to run off with Helen. Husband of Helen along with his brother formed a Greek army to get back his wife, and this led to Trojan War.
