Where Hercules Slew A Lion ?

Hercules is the son of Zeus and Alcmene. Hera, the wife of Zeus, never liked the idea of Zeus sleeping around with other women and always avenged them. She sent 2 snakes to kill Hercules when he was born, but did not succeed. However, Hercules grew up to be a handsome young man and also a very brave and strong young man. He fell in love with Megara and had two children. He was very happy with his family. However, Hera had not forgotten her revenge. So, she tricked Hercules into killing his own family in anger.

Hercules after killing felt very bad when he came back to his senses and begged Apollo to forgive him. Apollo asked him to accomplish ten important tasks to forgive him and one of them was killing Nemean the Lion, which was a monster.

Nemea was a valley that was ruled by Nemean and was very troubled because of it. It was a terrible lion. Eurystheus asked Hercules to bring him the skin of the lion. Hercules went into the valley and strangled the lion with his own hands. He returned to the king carrying the lion on his shoulders. This was one of the first tasks for Hercules which he achieved with no effort.

He was also assigned killing of several other monsters like the Hydra. However, the king who ordered the lion to be killed was so scared at its sight that in future he asked Hercules to deliver his killings outside the town. He was convinced about Hercules' strength and valor.
