Why Was Hades God Of The Dead ?

Hades is the god of the dead and the king of the underworld. Hades was born to Cronus, the god of time and rhea the mother god. They both were Titans, and Cronus swallowed all his children at birth. He swallowed even Hades at birth and only Zeus escaped Cronus by a stroke of fate.

Zeus, who was very intelligent, made Cronus swallow a potion which made him vomit all his other siblings out. Zeus, Poseidon and Hades were angered by their father's act and decided to drive out all the Titans out of the Universe. So, they captured them and took them out of the universe. On returning, they decided to share the universe among themselves and Zeus became the god of the heaven and Poseidon the god of the Sea and Hades the lord of the Underworld. That is how Hades became the lord of the Underworld.

In Greek mythology he was seldom spoken about, and there is only one mythological story about him known as the Rape of Persephone. He married Persephone later and remained faithful to her. However, Hades was never mentioned anywhere else because people were scared of him. He was the dark lord and the god of the dead. Nonetheless, he did play a very important role in the hierarchy of gods. He was the owner of pone third of the Universe and was as powerful as Zeus. Hades also played a role in Trojan War, but for a brief moment. Hades was also a revered god at the same time because he was the god of the riches.
