What Is Ares Roman Name ?

Ares is one of the Greek mythological gods, but he was the most unpopular. Nobody liked war and everyone wanted peace. However, Ares was always blood thirsty and wanted to see more destruction and war. In the methodical stories, Ares actually needed no reason for creating war, and even the simplest mistake could warrant an extremely damaging war.

His father, Zeus, and mother, Hera, hated him because of his war mongering nature. Also, Zeus declared his hatred for him to everyone. Even the roman civilization actually had similar gods and worshipped them. For the Romans, Mars was considered and revered as a god and Ares resembled Mars the closest. He is the Roman version Mars. However, the difference was that Mars was liked by the people but Ares was not liked. Mars for the Romans was also associated with fertility and all kinds of vegetation.

In Greek mythology, Ares was often portrayed as a god wearing a gold helmet and riding a speeding chariot. He had several children like Phobos, Deimos, Alcippe, Dioceses, Cyncus, Oenomaus, Remus, Romulus, Harmonia, and Ixion. However, his Roman name is considered as Mars. He held several objects like an ancile and a sacred shield. He also held a spear and a burning torch sometimes.

One of the myths that depicted Ares was the Odyssey and the Iliad. These two are the main mythological books of Greece and the stories of several gods can be found here. Even the gods like Apollo and Zeus have been featured in this book. It has stories of wars and kingdoms.
