Ares is the god of wars in Greek mythology. He is considered to be a major Greek god and is one of the 12 main Olympian gods. He is the son of Zeus and Hera. He is often known as the god of war, and is also called the god of bloodlust. He is the god for weapons and war. The ancient Greek name for war was Ares. Ares was responsible for starting several famous wars like the Trojan War. Also, he is considered as the Roman god of wars, which is Mars. |
Ares has been given a place of very important Olympian god. Ares destroyed Kroisos. Ares has been credited for slaying demons and killing other weaker demons. However, he was not very liked by other gods. His war mongering nature often got them into trouble. Also, his own parents who were more of peacemakers did not like him much.
Ares had several strong qualities like valor, strength, decisiveness, determination and will power. However, he was also very unreasonable and his first reaction was to fight. He was mentally weak. He almost and always responded only by war. He was injured in Trojan War after which he never waged another war.
Ares killed Adonis and captured the giant Allodia in a brass container he had his own set of achievements when it came to wars that he fought. There were several temples built for Ares though and he was worshipped mainly during war. If he could cause war, he could also lessen the damage.
