The Greek God Pandora  

We all have heard about the famous Pandora ’s Box. Pandora is a Greek mythological goddess who actually carries the blame of releasing all the troubles into the world. In appearance Pandora has been depicted as a very beautiful you g girl. She also inculcates a desire in people who see her. She is also a deceitful goddess and causes curiosity in people.

Pandora was given as a gift to Epimetheus. She as created on Mount Olympus. The story of Pandora was that Zeus was very upset with his brothers Prometheus and Epimetheus. They brought fire to man kind and so people used the fire for sparkling lights in the night time. So Zeus ordered Pandora to be created and then presents her as a gift to Epimetheus. All the troubles of mankind were kept enclosed in a jar, and the troubles included diseases and sorrow or death. Pandora was ordered never to open the jar. However, she was curious by nature and eventually ends up opening the jar. All the troubles get released into the world, and the only thing that remains in the jar is hope.

Just like any other Greek mythological story even Pandora’s Box has several variations. In one of the versions, Zeus sends Pandora as a gift to mankind; and in several tales she is also considered as the first woman to be brought to earth by the gods. Pandora is also called the sender of gifts and the name also means one who gives away gifts. Pandora meant positive things but her character turned out negative.
