History Of Cupid Greek God
Cupid is also known as Eros in Greek mythology. There are two versions of mythical stories about cupid or Eros. One is that Eros was considered to be a very ancient god and the creator. He was responsible for creating all kinds of life and gods on earth and heaven. He could have been the son of Gaea and chaos. |
The other mythical story is that Eros is the son of Ares and Aphrodite, the gods of war and love respectively. Eros is the god of lust and sexual passion. He is also the god of beauty. In roman mythology he is usually referred to as cupid. He is also known as Kama in Indian mythology and Amor.
According to the Roman mythology, he is the son of Venus and Mars. Cupid is very popular and in today's culture, he usually plays a role during Valentine's Day. Cupid's arrow is one of the most significant and famous ones.
Eros, the son of Aphrodite, was very close to his mother and aided her in all her affairs. Once Aphrodite was very jealous about a woman called Psyche because of her beauty. So she sent Eros to shoot an arrow at her and make her fall in love with the world’s ugliest man. However, when Eros saw her, he was so mesmerized with her beauty that he fell in love with her and then married her. Eros shoots the arrow in his victim’s heart to create lust and love. He is also known to be a very notorious and mischievous god.
