Who Won The Revolutionary War ?

Colonial America won the Revolutionary War and that is why we have a country called the United States of America today. The Revolutionary War is also known as the American Revolution and the American War of Independence.

The war technically began in 1775 in Lexington, Massachusetts. It lasted nearly for eight years and finally ended in 1783. A treaty was signed in Paris to this effect making it important for Great Britain to recognize the 13 colonies of the United States. However the independence gained by America was not a one day affair and several battles were fought continuously in many places throughout the country. Americans were repeatedly attacked by Great Britain to recede and forgo their intentions of having a separate country.

When the war started, America was faced with defeated several times including the battle of Lexington. The main reason that drove America towards freedom was the need to establish their government.

When the war began, Britain had already sent more troops to combat the Americans and that was done on a continual basis. Only after America started receiving support from the French government, it was able to fight the British back effectively. However, once the French army started supporting the Americans in 1778 after their trade and cooperation pact was signed, several French soldiers fought the battle against the British. Even former British colonies like Spain and Netherlands joined the Americans in the war. Everyone objected to the new laws and tax polices of the British government and their atrocities.
