Here is an interesting fact about Warren G Harding. In order to win the presidential election, Harding used the motto return to normalcy. This was well accepted by the people who wanted to get over all the problems of World War I. This slogan helped Harding win landslide victory. In addition, Harding promised to the people that he would have the best mind in his administration. He kept to his words but unfortunately his administration was plagued with corruption. The Teapot Dome Scandal was an oil field scandal in the Teapot Dome area of Wyoming. This scandal was instrumental in ruining the political careers of highly placed government officials, men that Harding had selected himself. However, Harding died before the scandal came out.
Another interesting fact about Harding is that when he was chosen as the Republican presidential candidate, he was not very well known outside the state of Ohio. However, Harding was selected as a compromise candidate and was nominated by the party. In fact, the party had asked him whether he had any embarrassing moments in his life that could be used by the opposition to malign him. However, Harding replied in the negative even though he was having an affair with his wife's friend for a long period of time. By the time the knowledge of the affair reached the Republican Party, it was too late to nominate another candidate.
