John Tyler Biography

John Tyler was born in Virginia on March 29, 1790. No one knew much about his childhood, but it is known that he grew up on a plantation in Virginia. His mother died when he was only seven years old. When he was twelve years old, he went to the William and Mary Preparatory school.

He graduated and then studied law. He was admitted to the Bar in 1809. His father was John, a planter who supported the American Revolution, was a close associate of Thomas Jefferson, and also was in politics. More...
