What Was John F Kennedy Doing When He Died ?
President John F Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas. He was the 35th President of the United States. On November 22, 1963, he went on a political trip to Texas. He was there to negotiate between the Democratic Party, and Don Yarborough and John Connelly. They were increasingly becoming the warring factions. |
Lee Harry Oswald, who was an employee of a schoolbook deposit agency, was arrested on charges of murder of Kennedy along with a local police officer. However, Oswald denied that he shot anyone, and said he would never do such a thing. However, he was killed by Jack Ruby on the 24 November 1963, even before he could be indicted or sent on trial. Ruby was arrested on the charge of murder, and convicted to death sentence. He was terminally ill with cancer and eventually died due to that.
President Johnson who succeeded him created a Warren Commission that was to be chaired by chef justice Earl Warren to conduct investigations into the assassination. However, the committee led by Warren concluded that Oswald was the lone assassin, and acted alone. The results of the investigation have been contested several times after that.
Several people even today believe that Kennedy’s assassination was a result of organized killing.
John F Kennedy’s body was buried in a small plot in the Arlington Cemetery. Kennedy’s wife and children were buried later next to his grave. Senator Edward M Kennedy, John’s brother was also buried near the grave at a later point of time. JFK’s grave is embossed with the words "Eternal Flame".
