What Were The Main Points Of The Truman Doctrine ?

Communism started spreading around a good number of countries around Europe in countries like Hungary, Poland and Romania right after the World War II. This also started a huge feeling of fear in the Western side of the world, and the one of the most famous leaders who was greatly involved in this issue was Truman. As the President of the United States then, he was the main player in the scene of European affairs.

He was the man behind the Truman Doctrine along with the iconic Marshall Plan. The doctrine was made with the main point of giving utmost protection to the general masses against the devastating consequences of Communism. Another main point of the famous doctrine was to display to other nations the might of the United States as a country so that there would be other nations as well who would think about being in alliance with them.

The Truman Doctrine was an effort to test out the expansion of the Soviet to countries like Greece and Turkey. It advocated giving financial aid and military support to the forces which were against communism in the stated countries. The Congress approved a $250 million budget for Greece, and $150 million accordingly for Turkey. It also guaranteed additional help to other countries daunted by the minority groups, who were most often armed, and could possibly bring harm. The Truman Doctrine also gave assurance that the United States would provide protection and safety from any kind of external and insistent pressure.
