President Truman Actions Towards Family

When it comes to the lives of presidents, you may be asking how they were managing their family lives with their busy schedules. They might be very busy taking care of the country to check on their families. On this article, you will learn how Truman treated his family, especially his wife.

Even before Truman left for France, he had been courting his wife Bess Wallace. She agreed to get engaged to Truman, who was a lieutenant then.  Coming back from France, they decided to get married in 1919.

Being private people, Bess Truman did not like too much exposure in the public, especially the media when Truman assumed the position of president after Theodore Roosevelt.  However, she did fulfill her obligations as the first lady by going with the president on social gatherings.

Knowing that his wife do not like their private life being compromised, they have decided to stay in Blair House in order to minimize people who want to get into their private lives.

After his presidency, he and his wife did live a private life, and do what other normal couples do such as traveling. However, they did not stop doing things for the government like privately collecting donations so they can build a library. This is the reason why the Truman Library was established, and was donated to the government. With this, you can say that the couple has treated each other properly by doing their responsibility while respecting the likes and dislikes of each other.
