When Did The Civil War Start ?

The American Civil War actually started in 1861 and the first attack made was on April 12 in Fort Sumter of South Carolina. The American Civil war has also been popularized as the war of several states because many of them were involved in it.

Several leaders led the war in different regions of the United States. In 1860, the Republican Party started a campaign against slavery and it was led by Abraham Lincoln. The Southern States were always against it because most of them were slavery states and after Lincoln won the presidential elections in 1861 several Southern States declared Secession from his office. The first even displaying hostility began in Fort Sumter later that year. The confederate forces attacked the US Military forces here. This was the starting point for many bloodiest events to come.

American Civil War was one of the deadliest civil wars to have been fought in American history. More than six hundred and twenty thousand soldiers died in defending and the civilian casualties were never counted. The war was started to end slavery and to strengthen the Federal government. There were several issues during the time of war like political, social, racial and economical. The war nearly lasted seventeen years and ended in 1877.

They say times that are very difficult and full of woes develop character in people. America had advanced in many ways after the civil war and today they are the super power in the world. However, the Americans were suffering the aftermath of war for several years even after the war ended until the late 80s.
